OUR SEASONAL & OCCASIONAL BEERS
JANUARY-MARCH
MARYNKA 4.1%
Bitter "A light copper coloured session bitter"
Marynka was the first in our ’10 series of beers showcasing Polish and Czech hops and was that good we have now made it a seasonal beer. Based on Maris Otter pale malt with a bit of crystal to give some colour. Light copper in colour with a nutty, fruity aroma, a good creamy mouth feel, with a little residual sweetness that gives way to a dry finish, with a pleasantly bitter aftertaste. Although the hops are not dominant they perform the job of providing bitterness to balance the sweet malt.
APRIL-JUNE

Golden Ale "A refreshing honey toned, golden ale"
Originally brewed in summer 2009 as Summer Gold, it was subsequently selected by J.D. Wetherspoon’s to feature in their April 2010 Beer Festival when the name was changed to Brigantia.
It is a honey toned, refreshing, hoppy, golden ale with gorgeous aromas of tropical fruit and grapefruit sharpness offset by hints of melon and pineapple; the result of large quantities of German, Brewers Gold hops.
JULY-AUGUST
TRUE BLONDE 4.6%
Cask Lager "A true cask lager"

TWITTER & BUSTED 4.0%
English Pale Ale "A pale gold coloured ale, spicy and floral"
Originally called Twitter & Bisted, this beer was named after one of the favourite sayings of our former director, Graham 'Walter' Dixon who died in 2008; we all miss you Graham; R.I.P, Graham and Twitter & Bisted.
Pale Gold in colour and with a dry taste (not unlike Graham's humour) Twitter & BUSTED'S hop profile combines Challenger hops with Styrian Goldings to give spicy and floral notes.

CASKABLANCA 4.1%
English Pale Ale "A generously hopped, golden ale with strong citrus aromas"
Originally brewed as one of our award winning 'Film Themed' Beers in 2008 Caskablanca has proved so popular it remains in our permanent range.
This generously hopped Honey Gold beer is brewed with a blend of American hops – Cascade predominating – and which tempts you with its lemon and lime citrus aromas and leaves a pleasantly crisp and dry aftertaste.
OCCASIONAL
DEUX CITRA 4.2%
American Pale Ale "A dual hopped pale ale with crazy citrus aromas"
Originally brewed in June 2010 as Citra as the first brew in a series of occasional 'one hop' beers, using more unusual hop varieties. We had first heard about Citra in 2009, had our first whiff of it in early 2010 and resolved immediately we just had to have some.
It’s just this incredible hop delivers a massive tropical fruit salad of aromas and could easily fool one into thinking you are drinking tropical fruit juice, ala Um Bongo. The aromas and flavours are simply citrus, peach, apricot, passion fruit, grapefruit, lime, melon, gooseberry, lychee, pineapple, tangerine, mango, papaya and all tropical fruit flavours and aromas.
Deux Citra is brewed using Warrior hops for bittering and Citra for aroma only and we think we have managed to retain the wonderful aromas of our original beer.

PORTERESQUE 4.4%
Classic style Porter "Bursting with roast malt flavours"
A classic style porter, dark and rich which bursts with roasted malt flavours; handsomely black, with a creamy white head and smoky aromas with an intense blend of bitter roasted malts. It has a creamy texture throughout which the smokiness penetrates creating a multi level experience and which makes a superb first class ale.
A trial bottling of one firkin in March 2009 led to this beer been entered in the Sainsbury 2009 bottled beer competition where it made the final fifteen, from a total of one hundred and fifteen entries, from fifty seven breweries and ended a very credible third, with sales of 40,000 bottles across three weeks.

REVEREND RAY 4.6%
Classic British Best Bitter "A traditional best bitter with a peppery hop, ripe vine fruit and biscuit malt flavour"
Named after the Rev. Ray Hutchinson, Rector of Wigan Parish Church which overlooks our Brewery and who is known to occasionally imbibe at our Brewery Tap, The Anvil in Dorning Street, perhaps confirming that 'Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants to see us happy' (Benjamin Franklin).
Rev. Ray is brewed as a traditional Best Bitter using Maris Otter and Crystal malts. The hops are English East Kent Goldings and Challenger plus American Liberty; resulting in a peppery hop, ripe vine fruit and biscuity malt flavour that cascades across the tongue. Typical of All Gates beers Rev. Ray relies on the late addition of the aromatic hops.

SHIMLA IPA 5.5%
India Pale Ale "A pale golden coloured ale"
A pale golden coloured beer with a light long lasting head. The beer is crisp, clear and almost sparkles. The aroma is predominantly hoppy with a lemon and fruit citrus edge and a slight hint of freshly cut grass. There is also a slightly sweet aroma.
It is a complex and well balanced beer with sharpness, with the Chinook, Centennial and Ahtanum hops providing taste wise a blend of fruit (tropical fruits) and citrus hop flavours and a lemony freshness. There is also a pleasant honey sweetness that doesn't overpower, but balances out the citrus nicely. The flavours develop and become increasingly bitter, leading to a long, dry and bitter aftertaste.

YULE 7.5%
Strong Winter Ale "A vintage strong Winter ale "
Originally brewed for Christmas 2009 as Unhinged. Each year we will brew one, (and one only) batch. It is not a beer for wimps being strong in colour and flavour.
Brewed with dark roasted barley malts to give a good mouth feel but well balanced with the astringency of East Kent Goldings and Challenger hops. The wort is given an extended boil and then fermented out with traditional English Ale yeast. The beer then enjoys an extended maturation.
