FUNDRAISING FOR CHARITIES
JUNE 2010 - £1,373.75 cheque to Wigan & Leigh Hospice
A final balance of £1,373.75 from the sales of Shining Light has been made to Wigan & Leigh Hospice following the final sales of this pale and hoppy brew during 2009. Shining Light first became a regular brew in January 2008 and 10p from every pint sold has been donated to the Hospice. It is hoped that a further Charity Beer will be brewed at some time during 2010 with monies raised donated to a local charity.
MAY 2009 - £1,545 raised for seven charities on AllGates first Charity Walk
AllGates customers and staff raised a fantastic £1,545 for charities of their choice in conjunction with a 22 mile charity pub walk around AllGates Wigan pubs.
The event took place on Saturday 23rd May. A total of twenty seven walkers and several cyclists left the Crooke Hall Inn and Crooke village at 9.30a.m heading in the direction of Wigan Town Centre and the first checkpoint of AllGates's award winning pub The Anvil in Dorning Street.
Next stop and a long way off was AllGates's Hare & Hounds in Ladies Lane, Hindley; reached via the canal tow path and the Wigan flight and then across fields and past Hindley Golf Club. Refreshments were enjoyed here providing suitable sustenance for the equally long walk to the third checkpoint, AllGates's Victoria pub, in Haigh Village.
From the Victoria the now somewhat weary walkers and cyclists made their way through Haigh Hall, along the canal tow path and past Arley Golf Club and Worthington Lakes to the award winning Crown Hotel in Worthington. The final stretch saw the walkers through Standish village and finally downhill through fields and woods and past old mine workings back to Crooke village and The Crooke Hall Inn where a Beer & Folk festival was in full swing.
All but three of the people that started, completed the walk, a fantastic achievement.
The landlords of all participating pubs chose two charities of their choice for the monies raised and seven different charities in total benefited. These were Wigan & Leigh Hospice, PDSA, Derian House, Macmillan, Christie’s Hospital, Alzheimer and Encephalitis.
Everyone that took part thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it is hoped that the walk can be made into a regular annual event; so watch this space.
FEBRUARY 2008 - £1061.41 cheque presented to Wigan & Leigh Hospice
We were delighted to present a cheque to Wigan and Leigh Hospice from the profits of the Crooke Hall January Beer Festival and the launch of our Charity Beer - Shining Light. Shining Light has already proved to be extremely popular in many outlets across the North West and the 10p per pint donation will help the Hospice continue to provide care and support. You can view their letter here.
We are delighted to be supporting Wigan & Leigh Hospice with this special charity brew, aptly named Shining Light. Our picture below shows the competition winner Pat Raynor with AllGates Sales Manager, Rob Wright, sampling the first pint of Shining Light at the Crooke Hall Festival.
Shining Light will become a regular brew during 2008/2009 and 10p from every pint sold will be donated to the Hospice.
More details about future festivals and regular updates about how much is being raised will be posted here in due course.
