September - Pony Dick

“A two hop pale ale with massive citrus aromas.”

The Eqiuinox hop was developed by the Hop Breeding Company, the breeders of Citra®, Mosaic™ and Simcoe® and until April 2014 was titled HBC 366. They are probably now the most sought-after hops in the industry and the new “hop darling” of the craft beer world.

Mosaic is the first born child of Simcoe. Some people describe it as Citra on steroids, but it’s much more than that. Rich in Mango, lemon, citrus, earthy pine, tropical fruit, herbal and stone fruit notes, Mosaic combines a complex hop aroma with fairly high alpha-acids and low cohumulone levels which make it a perfect triple purpose hop and provides clean bitterness and aroma profiles that cannot be accomplished by other hops or blends; a one off!

Put two cousins together and not only have you an important debate in anthropology and alliance theory but a beer with fabulous citrus aromas!

And Pony Dick! – He was a Pony that lived to be 36 and died in 1841, and after which a Mine and a Pub in Winstanley were named. The latter was located on Billinge Road, close to the entrance to Winstanley Hall Estate.
